Senior Software Engineer

REZA

Distributed systems, resilient architecture and craft. I build backend and cloud platforms that stay calm under load.

Across layers

Engineering across layers: from low-level runtimes to cloud-native platforms.

What I optimise for
  • Performance budgetsDecided up front, checked continuously.
  • High-throughput pipelinesEvent-driven where decoupling pays for itself.
  • Observability by defaultIf it can't be seen, it can't be operated.

Systems and the trade-offs behind them

A few engineering problems I've worked on, what I chose, and what it cost.

TIER Mobility

Event-driven customer-service automation

Problem
Customer-service tooling depended on synchronous REST calls between services, so one slow dependency slowed everything.
Trade-off
Accepted eventual consistency and some duplicated data in exchange for decoupling services from each other.
Outcome
Bots handle simple customer requests, easing the load on support agents. Services read essential data locally instead of calling each other.

Exxeta

Cloud cost optimization (FinOps)

Problem
Customers were running cloud workloads without a clear view of cost versus performance.
Trade-off
Cost savings are only worth it if latency and reliability targets still hold, so changes are driven by measurement, not guesses.
Outcome
Customers adopted cost-efficient strategies while keeping performance high.

Backend services for automotive systems

Problem
Automotive platforms need services that scale with fleet size and stay maintainable over years.
Trade-off
Chose managed, horizontally scalable storage over relational flexibility, and designed access patterns up front.
Outcome
Scalable, maintained backend services in production for automotive customers.

Centralized task automation service

Problem
Automation logic was scattered across the system, hard to maintain, with slow 8-week delivery cycles.
Trade-off
A shared service adds a dependency, but removes duplicated logic and gives one place to improve.
Outcome
A cleaner, more cohesive system, and a team shipping in small Scrum iterations instead of 8-week cycles.

Why I decouple services

Slow down one downstream service and see how each design reacts.
